Worm Casting Workshop

You don’t want to miss this! Our incredible community partners at the Oak Hills Park Nature Center are hosting a worm composting workshop! 

Registration for this event is FREE, and for $25 you can also take home a worm bin starter kit with worms. Please indicate if you would like to purchase a bin while registering.

 

You will learn how to turn kitchen scraps into “black gold” - nutrient-rich compost all year long!

Serviceberry Workshop!

Oyster Shell Park

Visit us at Oyster Shell Park to learn about the forageables in the park and how to make serviceberry jam! Serviceberry is a beautiful and edible native understory tree that grows throughout the watershed. We are happy to say that a number of young plants are in our thriving MicroForest.

Registration is Required. There is a limit of 15 participants, so register today! Free two-hour parking is available in the Oyster Shell lot at the playground. There is additional metered parking on North Water Street and a parking garage within walking distance.

Butterfly Walk with Victor DeMasi

Victor is NRWA's 30th Anniversary Environmental Hero Award Recipient and serves on our Advisory Board.

 

He is our resident watershed lepidopterist and has been a long-time research affiliate at Yale’s Peabody Museum. Victor has been studying butterflies and moths in an area along the Norwalk River near his home since 1977.

 

He will introduce area butterflies and moths during a tour of his magnificent meadows, discuss their food and habitats, and show his remarkable collection.
