The
Norwalk River looks more like a real river here, as it leaves
the Great Swamp. The exit point is blocked by an earthen dam
and a floodgate that can be closed if damaging floodwaters
are expected. This would turn the Swamp into a shallow lake,
which would hold back more than one million tons of water
that would otherwise rampage through the downstream communities.
