From
Ridgefield's Town Hall, go a short block down Main Street,
turn left on Governor Street and go downhill to the Boys and
Girls Club. Their recreational pond is at the top end of "Steep
Brook" (a name from the 1700's) which is the largest tributary
of Ridgefield's Great Swamp, the headwaters of the Norwalk
River.
The
Swamp's second-largest tributary runs along Ivy Hill Road,
at the southern end of the Swamp. It has two source ponds,
one behind St. Andrew's Church on Route 102 and the other
at the bend of Woodlawn Drive. Any of these ponds could be
called... (trumpets, please)... The Source Of The Norwalk
River.
Half
way from Ridgefield's Town Hall to the
Police Station (white building in background)...
The
pond at the Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club,
One of the "sources" of the Norwalk River.

Another "source" behind St. Andrew's church.

Below St. Andrew's church on Ivy Hill Road, water
pouring into the Great Swamp during the 1955 flood.
